Bug Description

I use Full-Disk Encryption on 12.10. All seems to work fine sometimes - the pretty screen asks for my disk unlock password and then takes me to the login screen when I enter it correctly.

Other times, it shows a completely blank black screen. I can type the password "in the dark" and hit enter and it goes to the login screen, but it obviously isn't very good from a usability point of view.

Let me know how I can help.

Description changed so that it no longer says this happens on reboot and not on a cold start.

I have a problem with the unlock screen - it doesnt randomly not appear but it does appear as corrupted (screenshot attached). This is consistent. I've seen it appear OK once but predominantly it's corrupted. This may be a different bug in which case I'm happy to raise a new one.
Looks like a video mode problem but have tried adjusting monitor with no joy.
Monitor is a BenQ GL2250 which works fine once Ubuntu has booted.
I should point out that if I type in the password the system seems to work fine. While booting the screen stays corrupted until the login screen appears.

Here's the rescaled attached (deleted previous as not sure you needed a 2M image file :)

Found the problem - had to install nvidia-current as was using the open source drivers - unlock screen now legible.

I just did a clean install of 13.04 Raring Ringtail and this still occurs (on my first boot, unfortunately!)

My laptop is a Dell 14z - 5423 and it comes with both Intel HD400 and a ATI Radeon 7550M/7570M/7650M, so, perhaps this is where the problem comes from. I'm using 13.04 too.
