Bug Description
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the Lubuntu desktop on a HP Pavilion dm1 notebook. Lubuntu desktop normally used.
Booting has occurred normally but following login into the Lubuntu desktop a message would appear stating that Ubuntu 21.04 had a system error. The system worked fine hence this message was ignored. Then recently the occasional freeze at booting commenced - with the mouse driven cursor functioning OK but the login screen buttons frozen as was the password entry box. Re booting once normally got the notebook up and running.
On the 19 Oct I made use of ubuntu-bug and avivotool - resulting in the generation of a number of updates which were installed.
At a later booting the Update Manager highlighted 9 updates of 6.1MB (clam updates plus), mouse became non functional, hand control of mouse was OK, then it too became non functional. Rebooted into Lubuntu desktop and UM buttons non functional, attempted UM closure - Message UM not responding.
Logged out of Lubuntu desktop and logged into Ubuntu desktop and installed updates successfully.
Freezing at the login screen has become more of an issue with three freezes followed by the presentation of the Grub screen. Booting was then normal.
In earlier boot freezes the Grub screen occurred sometimes following a reboot.
With the one exception mentioned above the freezing only occurs at booting.
