Bug Description

After the reconfiguring of "lightdm" package:
user@machine:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
an unexpected config screen appeared (look at the attached screenshots).

Obviously, lightdm-gtk-greeter is not a real display manager.

Were you using an unofficial package or something, and then upgraded to the official one?
I'm not able to reproduce on precise. There's no code in lightdm-gtk-greeter to register itself as a display manager, because as you wrote, of course it isn't one. ;-)

No, I haven't used any unofficially packaged lightdm related stuff. Official upgrades only.

Maybe, an old version has modified some configs and they haven't been corrected since that time?
