Bug Description
Binary package hint: light-themes
When using the dark variant of the new theme (ambiance) when selecting items in the (top) menu or when you look at the indicator for the active application in the bottom panel in Gnome the text of the active menus/applications is hardly readable.
This is a major usability problem for people with a poor eyesight. The main problem is the low contrast.
To illustrate the issue I will attach a screenshot where you can see:
1. at the top panel: hardly readable selected menu
2. under the top panel: readability in sub-menus is much better
3. at the bottom panel: the name of the active application is hardly readable.
Expected behavior: Text should always contrast well with the background
Actual behavior: The text has different contrast depending on which "selected/active item" you look.

This problem has not been fixed with the recent updates.
The contrast between the text and the background in the selected/active elements in the panel is still very low.
I suggest to use a brighter text colour (and maybe a darker background colour) in order to enhance the readability of the text.
The attached screen-shot is very much self-explanatory.
