Bug Description

Hi
Due to some reason, I upgraded my workstation which is HP Workstation xw9400, from 15.04 to 15.10 2 weeks ago.
After upgrade, when the screen turns off itself in 10 minutes (that my system has been set to 10 minutes),
It never comes up back, I mean it never wakes up.
There is only one solution to overcome: Shut down & start up system.
I upgrade the kernel to "4.3.0-040300rc3-generic #201509271225", but it still has same problem.
If you have any solution, I can try.

In addition;
When I'd like to go terminal mode with Ctrl+Alt+F1
Anymore I can't see anything, when the screen turns off itself.
Or If I goes to terminal mode, Ctrl+Alt+Del can reboot system sometimes.
Or sometimes I try Ctrl+Alt+F1 than Ctrl+Alt+Del many times, there is no response from system.
In that case as I said I have to shut down and start up system manually.

Today
I notices, if I lock the system this problem occurs.
When the mentioned problem happened
I connect the system via TeamViewer,
It was completely locked up.
I couldn't type my password to unlock screen.
But at the same time,
The radio which was playing before locked up, was playing.

The last information,
I use 2 different system with same keyboard and mouse via kvm switch.
Perhaps, the reason of problem is connected this module.

Thanks
Ertan

Today I tested system with different way.
I set the screen lock time to 1 minute than I waited 1 minute.
After 1 minute, the screen went to black.
I moved mouse and pressed the keyboard.
I didn't awake as I said before.

Than I changed the computer and connect with new computer to locked computer via TeamViewer.
So I noticed that system locks up completely.
In TeamViewer screen, I see only Cairo-Dock.
I cannot see neither background nor icons on desktop.
And I cannot click cairo dock.
But radio or music system is working w/o any problem.

Hi
Actually this topic is still undecided even through it was so important for me.
Because, this computer is my workstation and sometime I don't use it several days.
And some day I'd like to login to check somthing but the screen never came back.
Ctrl+Alt+F1 or other combination didn't response till reboot the system.
Or I'd like to get a communication via TeamViewer but this screen is same real one as black.
So last 2-3 months I was very busy to overcome problem.
Because OS reinstallation should be last solution which called plan Z.

So
Yesterday I typed following commands than the problem fixed.
     dm-tool lock
     light-locker-command
     light-locker &
     light-locker-command -l
     lxlock
     sudo reboot

After booting up, the system has been back to normal.

Thanks
Ertan

I have this problem. I found I can get the login screen back if I Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.

How did you come to the conclusion to use those commands?

Sorry
It was wrong that I wrote on 27th Oct.
On first reboot everything was seeming ok but next reboots I had same.
And I had been tried too many thing and I installed too many drives and program.
Actually my observation was wrong and the problem still goes on.

So
I installed the OS 15.10 from the beginning
(I remove old OS but home directory still same due to several reason)
But the problem still goes on
I dont know what should I do.

Actually, I fixed this issue on my system by downgrading my nVidia drivers from v352.41 back to 346.96. What video card are you using?

Hi psylem
The graphic card in my workstation is ATI FireGL V7200.
I don't get any error on 15.04 but on 15.10 I have this problem.

Thanks

Another issue
On my system, if I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, I can't get back the screen.
But in dark mode (nothing on screen) if I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 than Ctrl+Alt+Del, I can reboot system.

My last temporary solution on that issue:
After locking screen,
When the screen goes to black
I press any key
Than the brightness of screen comes back
And never goes to black.

But
If I forget to press any key
Or after reboot if I cannot login on the time,
Screen goes to black and the solution is reboot the system.

Which display manager are these systems using?

I noticed this affects sddm (which is installed with KDE) but not with lightdm.

I've attached a debug log whilst using sddm that indicates the cause may be a NULL DBus path:

[init_session_id] gs-listener-dbus.c:2011 (12:28:15): Got session-id: /org/freedesktop/login1/session/_32
[init_session_id] gs-listener-dbus.c:2016 (12:28:15): Got sd-session-id: 2
[query_seat_path] gs-listener-dbus.c:2063 (12:28:15): org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject raised:
 No such object path '/org/freedesktop/DisplayManager/Session1'

Yes, that was connected to graphic drivers.
After new drivers for graphic cards, it disappeared.
