Bug Description

I did fresh install of ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 of 32 bit and 64 bit. For some reason non gtk3 apps are using default gnome look. Not following the appearance of the rest of ubuntu. I have created a new profile and does the same thing.

I reinstalled again Did not have the problem untill I installed the nvidia drivers and enabled xinerama. I have 3 monitors. 2 nvidia duel out cards. it appears to be Xinerama doing this and it effects non gtk3 apps.

I'm seeing this with the ATI driver and xinerama, so I don't think it's the driver. Must be in xinerama

As an additional data point, during the alpha series, I wasn't seeing this problem. It appeared just recently after the latest round of updates which took out my card and required me to reinstall the AMD driver.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/973419/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Additional data point. I just reinstalled fresh with beta 2 and have not installed the AMD drivers. I'm running stock video and having the same result. I've changed the appearance using the controll center and the non-GTK3 apps aren't changing.

Is there any thing being done with this bug. I am worried this bug will be in the final. LTS will be used in a lot of business. I know several people with 3 monitors in the business world. This really is annoying and ruens the experiance with ubuntu 12.04.

This problem seems to be in the final as well - gedit looks fine, but firefox and libreoffice are not "themed". See attatchment... I'm using two nvidia cards: Xinerama on a GeForce 8400GS (GPU 0) and a GeForce GT 430 (GPU 1) with three monitors attached.

(For some reason it seems impossible to get three separate x screens to work without xinerama, but that's another story... At least now I've got all three monitors working.)

My xorg.conf is as follows:

This bug also affects me, I have installed the latest/updated Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. I have 2 nvidia cards and 2 monitors on each cards, so 4 monitors in total. I will post up my xorg.conf file asap.

My setup is an Nvidia gtx260, with 2 monitors.
Not sure it really matters, but nobody seems to have mentioned that also transparent stuff gets broken, such as notifications, or unity "help text" when hovering over an icon in the launchbar...

Here is a screenshot of my issue: http://postimage.org/image/u8k7ilnsl/

I also have this problem. I am using an nVidia GTX460 and since I updated to Ubuntu 11.10 I cannot configure my dual monitor with xinerama. I use the nVidia privative drivers which can be installed in ubuntu.

I have tried to use Gnome3 thinking this was a problem with Unity but with Gnome3 it doesn't work either. The only way I can use my two monitors with xinerama enable is using Ubuntu 2D session, avoiding effects of Unity but as someone has told before, this implies that some programs are not themed. It also make every transparency disapear.

I hope to have something fixing it as early as possible because I need the dual monitor for work and if it possible with the newest Ubuntu.

Thanks.

Other things that I have seen is that when it works and I try to move the mouse from the screen on the right to the screen of the left, if I do it at a normal speed, not slowly, the mouse jumps to the end of screen on de left... it skips the entire left screen.

Having the same issue here; when screens are set in xinerama mode the launcher and dash on the second screen are no longer transparent.

Seems that it also goes into ubuntu-2d rather than 3d even when choosing the 3d option at login.
