Bug Description

I'm building a httpd derivative with both gcc and gcc -m32, but (only) my autoconf tests with gcc -m32 fails to find -lcrypt.

This seems to be a result of libcrypt1:amd64 installing a symlink from libcrypt.so but libcrypt1:i386 not doing the same, but I am ignorant of deb/ubuntu packaging.

Is such a symlink (in /lib/i386-linux-gnu) appropriate here for i386 as it is for amd64, or is it perhaps provided in some other package?
