Bug Description

XkbSetDetectableAutoRepeat doesn't have any effect; when autorepeating, keys are still sending both KeyPress and KeyRelease messages, even though with DetectableAutoRepeat set they should only keep sending KeyPress events.

This bug affects at least windows programs running under Wine that need to ignore autorepeat, such as World of Warcraft.

There are two open bugs under bugs.freedesktop.org (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22194 and http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22515) about XkbSetDetectableAutoRepeat not working, both filled in june, one reported under Ubuntu and the other for the GIT version, so the bug might still be present upstream.

this is problematic with blender 2.5 as well, where we need to be able to have repeat events for our text editor and holding keys without release events during transform.

Does this bug still occur on Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" ? What about on Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" ?

Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
