Bug Description
Binary package hint: metacity
When opening and/or closing windows the window list in the bottom panel resizes its entries all the time. This is very confusing for the user.
It is especially annoying when the title of the window changes. This happens in Firefox (browsing the net to other sites), Thunderbird (selecting a different mailbox), Rhythmbox (a new song is played), Terminal (a different directory is entered), etc.
Sometimes these changes happen automatically (e.g. new song in Rhythmbox starts). It is very frustrating when it happens while one wants to select an application - and the button for the application moves away.
It is not a space issue either, since - in my case - half the bottom panel is empty anyway. Also, there seems to be no logic in the size of the buttons either. It would be nice if there was a more consistent logic to calculating the width of the entries in the window list.
This is a libwnck bug, not a metacity one. Namely http:// bugzilla. gnome.org/ show_bug. cgi?id= 310809
