Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

There is currently no way to launch the expo function of Compiz using only the mouse. It would be great if, when Expo is active, you could middle-click the workspace switcher to activate it.

It would be handy and wouldn't detract from current functionality.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report and subsequently we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. Thanks nglnx,

I probably failed to make myself clear. There is, by default, no way to launch the expo function of Compiz using only the mouse. To change this users have to install an additional package and browse through its options, which detracts from the feature's discoverability.

Compizconfig-settings-manager Lets you map this function to an edge or corner of the screen, but the user might NOT want that. I for one have buttons and menus in that area, so I'd probably end up launching expo when I wanted to click the gnome menu or something. Middle-clicking a workspace-related item like the desktop switcher, on the other hand, would just make sense.

So that was not a question I was asking, actually, it was a feature I was asking for. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

the middle click action is used to move applets and libwnck should not have compiz specific action, that's not likely a change we will work on
