[Hardy] Window List 2.21.5 will only show applications from ALL desktops

Bug Description

I have two screens bound in twinview. At the bottom of each physical screen there is a panel containing a window list. I have 4 virtual desktops.

If I open an application on Desktop 1 (d1 here-on), an entry appears in the d1 window list, on the screen it was started (as expected).
If I change desktop to d2, d3 or d4 I can *still* see that window entry on the left-hand window panel (bug).

The same happens if I open a window on d2 (et al) - the window lists for all desktops will display entries for all programs.

I know there is a config option to change the behaviour but mine is set to "Show windows from current workspace", not "*all* workspaces".

I'd like to help as much as I can so just ask if you need more detail to triage and cure this issue.

Well I've discovered that this was a clash between the compiz way of handling multiple (virtual) desktops and the gnome way. I currently can't open up the display settings dialogue (due to the Alpha4 blocking-bugs) but I'll clarify which settings are the problem areas.

All-in-all, it is entirely possible that I caused this bug.

That's likely a duplicate, you can look to the open libwnck bugs about compiz and workspaces

Changed in gnome-panel:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
importance: Undecided → Low

Compiz no longer allows you to use multiple desktops (you can only use viewports) so this problem should not happen anymore.

Changed in libwnck:
status: New → Fix Released
