Bug Description
Jenkins builds fail in the test phase due to g_type_init deprecation, will attach a log. Upping the priority of this as it'll affect related builds.

Discovered with mathieu-tl's help that this isn't the fail-inducing factor in recent build failures, but should be fixed nonetheless. . . .
