Bug Description

Every application writes something autogenerated-crypted to "Name" field of stored passwords.

I have more than 40 entries and it's annoying to see this chaos when i open Seahorse.

See screenshot.

I Expect something like

Password for "<email address hidden>" mailbox.
Password for "antono" on Twitter.com

Empathy seems to generate crytpo-named password entries. Other apps could be improved. It would be nice to have a policy on title entry for gnome-keyring stored passwords...

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

This is not an issue with Seahorse, but with the applications that use GNOME Keyring. I'm assigning this task to Gwibber as that is one of the applications I can find cluttering the overview in Seahorse.
I'll open tasks for Telepathy and Evolution as well, they seem to use some quite uninformative name as well.

I'm rejecting this as a papercut as this is not something that's trivial to fix. You'd have to check all applications to make sure they register nicely and if you want to fix if completely you might consider writing a policy and finding ways to enforce it. That's out of the scope of the papercuts project.

is this still an issue?

I think yes. But it should be assigned to developers of gnome-keyring api or something like this. API itself should enforce developers to create clear descriptions.

Thanks for reporting this bug about gwibber and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

"Thanks for your patch, unfortunately our busy developers haven't been able to review your patch in a timely manor. The gwibber codebase has seen significant change and it is likely this patch no longer applies. Please review it again and if it is still applicable, update it to work with the latest gwibber trunk. We will be doing a patch review day in the next few weeks and would like to review your patch. Thanks again for your contribution!
