Bug Description

edubuntu usb live - italian version

I'm defining a table in LibreOffice Base containing an integer field. I cannot change the field length which is set to 10.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/986820/+attachment/3098384/+files/Schermata%20del%202012-04-22%2013%3A19%3A29.png .

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Base/Data_Types suggests one should be able to change the field length.

Same problem with the following field types: TINYINT (3), BIGINT (19), REAL (17), DOUBLE (17), OTHER (2147489647).
Moreover I notice that the following field types NUMERIC, DECIMAL, FLOAT, VARCHAR, VARCHAR_IGNORECASE, inherit the latest set length, that is: when I add a field it is set to VARCHAR (100), if I change it to FLOAT its length is automatically set to 17, if I come back to VARCHAR, the field length is not set back to 100, but still remains 17.

Sandra Farnedi, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Regarding the Bug Description, a search, in the built-in help and the LO wiki, did not reveal any information on a Base Field Type or any restrictions when using them. Hence, this is at least a documentation issue. As well, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Regarding https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/986820/comments/4 , let us have one bug per report. You are welcome to file another report about this and we may take it from there. Thank you for your understanding.
