Bug Description

The Presenter Console (libreoffice-presenter-console) does nothing when enabled. I expect to see a helpful panel of information on my laptop while Impress is in slideshow mode showing slides on the external display.

However, the extension has absolutely no visible effect on what happens. My screen looks exactly the same as if the extension wasn't installed, and there are no error messages. The only indication that it's installed is that I can see it in the extensions manager.

This bug occurs on every machine I've tested over the last approximately two years.

I experienced exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 (see below for details) and was very frustated. However, after a shutdown and restart, it worked fine. So probably easy workaround should be to add the "reboot needed" flag to the libreoffice-presenter-console package.

$ dpkg --get-selections | grep libreoffice
libreoffice-base-core install
libreoffice-calc install
libreoffice-common install
libreoffice-core install
libreoffice-draw install
libreoffice-emailmerge install
libreoffice-help-en-gb install
libreoffice-help-en-us install
libreoffice-impress install
libreoffice-kde install
libreoffice-l10n-common install
libreoffice-l10n-en-gb install
libreoffice-l10n-en-za install
libreoffice-math install
libreoffice-presenter-console install
libreoffice-style-oxygen install
libreoffice-writer install

I can't test the reboot hypothesis at the moment since I'm traveling and don't have access to a second monitor. If that's the case, however, I don't think that setting the reboot flag is the proper solution, though it's better than nothing. A reboot shouldn't be necessary; the best thing is to figure out why the installation isn't happening correctly.

Just to confirm: Rebooting does *not* solve the problem.

resolving worksforme as presenter-console is integrated with the main product in LibreOffice 4 anyway.
