I've noticed, that new libreoffice-java-common 3.4.3 packages (from Ubuntu 11.10) depends on libjaxp1.3-java libxerces2-java , see

When I installed libjaxp1.3-java libxerces2-java packages in Ubuntu 11.04 I got working libreoffice-java-common functionality, for now I can open example Excel 2003 XML files.

Ubuntu developers, please add libjaxp1.3-java libxerces2-java to libreoffice-java-common version 3.3.3 depends or backport libreoffice 3.4.3 packages to Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty)

natty is EOL and this is not an upstream issue.
