Mike Basinger, does this issue occur for you with LibreOffice? What specifically are you copying and then trying to special paste? Could you please attach a document that demonstrates this problem?

The same here (intermittently): sometimes, when I hit shift+ctl+v, nothing happens; nor does anything happen when I select paste special from the edit menu. But the behavior isn't consistent - with the same text copied, in the clipboard, if I close and reopen 'libreoffice -calc', it (the ctrl+shift+v) will (probably) work

Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. As mentioned above, the behaviour is
inconsistent.

I was working in Writer when this started to occur. Then I tried the
following steps:

(1) Close all Writer windows.

(2) Open a new blank document in Writer.

(3) Open gedit and write some text, select it and invoke Copy command.

(4) In Writer invoke the Paste command which works as expected.

(5) In Writer invoke the Paste Special command (either via the File
menu using the shortcut) - nothing happens.

But after I tried the same steps a few more times the Paste Special command
came back to normal.

I have this problem frequently on LibreOffice 3.3.3, OOO330m19 (Build:301), tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2.

When I copy snippets from web pages (in Firefox) and use Paste Special in LibreOffice, it works to begin with. Then it stops working, although I try both Ctrl-Shift-V and the "Paste Special" menu item. It seems as it stops working after every auto save, but I may have seen exceptions to that.

There are different ways to get it working again:

 o Closing and reopening LibreOffice.
o Copying some unformatted text (e.g. from gedit or terminal) and pasting it into LibreOffice with Ctrl-V.
o Copying formatted text within LibreOffice and pasting it with Ctrl-V.

After any of these actions copy and paste special works again.

There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

Is difficut to reproduce, but happen when I copy text from firefox, then paste to Libreoffice (ctrl+V or directly from menu) -> work, but the text is formatted.... UNDO... and then I try to paste the same text unformatted: (ctrl+shift+V or directly from menu) the paste special windows not appear at all.

If I restart libreoffice the paste special function return to work for some times.

I have had this problem constantly, for several years, in both OpenOffice and LibreOffice, on multiple consecutive versions of Ubuntu.

Paste Special works for a while, and then mysteriously stops working (whether invoked by hotkey or menu). The only workaround is to close all open documents and restart LibreOffice (3.5.4.2 Build ID: 350m1(Build:2) on Ubuntu Precise Pangolin). What causes it to stop working is a mystery. There seems to be no pattern to it.

The routine need to restart LibreOffice makes it surprising that this bug has been classified as of low importance. "Won't fix" is not a satisfactory status.

I'm having this problem intermittently with LibreCalc Version: 4.1.3.2 Build ID: 410m0(Build:2) on Ubuntu 13.10. It occurs when I copy data from one application (such as output from R Studio) into Calc. The keyboard shortcut will cease to function and paste special will be greyed out in the menu. Restarting Calc remedies the problem until the next occurrence.

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.0.4 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug

3. Leave a comment with your results.

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";

4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!
