Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04

2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer
libreoffice-writer:
  Installed: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty-updates/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1:3.3.2-1ubuntu4 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages

3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Writer via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/411252/+attachment/656818/+files/OO-layout-test.docx && lowriter -nologo OO-layout-test.docx

and the table looks as it does in Word 2007 (please see screenshot of file in Word 2007 https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/411252/+attachment/2140364/+files/Screenshot-OO-layout-test%20-%20Microsoft%20Word.png ).

4) What happens instead is the table is split vertically across 3 pages.

Original Reporter Comments: openoffice-writer 3.1 displays it over two pages, with the text from the first three pages on the first page. (that openoffice-writer 3.0 can manage, so it's a regression). The attached document was created in m$ word 2007. It is 4 pages long, with a couple of tables on page 1 and a line of text on each of pages 2 and 3.

Rocko, could you please post a screenshot of the file in Word 2007 displaying the file correctly?

Here's how it looks in word 2007 - 4 pages with the last one blank except for header/footer.

LibreOffice 3.3.2 is much better - it almost gets it right now. It adds a blank second page so that where it says "This is a nice line on page 2" it actually appears on page 3. I've seen this in other documents as well.

Rocko, I am closing the bug task for LibreOffice as it has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Oneiric Ocelot.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
