Bug Description
Background update failed. This followed system boot.
I am not skilled enough in Ubuntu to be able to troubleshoot to determine if truly a bug or something else.

Can you please try to do the upgrade again (see commands below) and paste the output?
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt --only-upgrade install libreoffice-common
That should attempt to upgrade only libreoffice-common (and anything it depends on). If this fails, I'd like to see the error message.
