Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release: 16.04

libreoffice writer and/or calc
Version: 5.1.6.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial6
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 4.15; UI Render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

libreoffice:
  Installed: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial6
  Candidate: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial6
  Version table:
 *** 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial6 500

     1:5.1.2-0ubuntu1 500

I don't know if it's related, but I'm low on root disk space; only about 200-500MB.

I normally have about a dozen writer documents open, and 1-4 spreadsheets in calc open. Also, these documents are generally open until a crash happens; Days, weeks...

I do not close most of these documents (nor exit libreoffice) for a very long time, if ever. I only reboot the machine or quit libreoffice when I'm forced to. So perhaps it's related to length of time open, I don't know.

Hi Andrew, we had a similar report recently about high CPU usage that turned out to be a troublesome extension rather than LibreOffice itself:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1825513

Do you have any additional extensions installed? If you do, please disable them and let us know if the problem goes away.

Thank you!
