Bug Description
In LibreOffice Writer, if some text is selected, everything is fine as long as my selection stays within the current line. The selection is indicated by a (usually blue) highlight behind the selected text. However, as soon as my selection includes the end of line or extends beyond it, the highlight changes to a thin outline around the selection (which is not very visible and this makes working with LO Writer very unpleasant).
Of course I expect the highlighting of the selection to continue like it does in the within the line from the beginning of marking and not change its character once an end of line (on the display) is crossed.
In LibreOffice Calc the selected cell can only be determined by the highlight in the column-headings and the highlight in the column with the cell line numbers. There used to be a blue highlight around it or a black border in LibreOffice and Xubuntu 14.04. LO Calc now is practically almost unusable in this mode.
I expect the marking of the selected cell in LO Calc to be as shown here: https:/
The error is also present with newer versions of LibreOffice (which are not supported by Xubuntu 16.04), but as I supposed this to be an error of LO, I first checked if it is still present in newer versions: it is!
As I first considered this to be a bug of LibreOffice itself and placed a bug-report in their forum:
https:/
In the discussions linked to this bug report, someone tells that the bug is related to OpenGL, another hint was to rename or delete LO's profile. I tried the latter but that did not fix anything.
My bug report also shows some more screenshots of the situation and some additional information about my computer (which is probably automatically collected for this bug report).
According to the LibreOffice team the bug vanishes if I would change to Ubuntu 17.04. However, I would like to stay with a LTS version and also changing the OS version might require new licensing for Mathematica, one of the most used programs on my computer.
