The attached document crashes LibreOffice writer when attempting to open it. The first page gets displayed, and the the application crashes.

Opened this in 5.2.2 on Windows 10 and it noted:
LibreOffice 5.2 Fatal Error

Hence, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you please send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at ? Please provide the upstream URL so it may be added as a bugwatch that will advise about the status. Thanks in advance.

It's fixed in upstream LibreOffice 5.2.3 and 5.3.x

Bjoern, the upstream commit seems easy could you have a look if the code is the same in 5.1/xenial and backport with the next SRU upload if that's easy enough?
