Bug Description

Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, Asus i3, LibreOffice Calc 4.2.3.3, 21 April 2014:

Open LibreOffice Calc side by side. Pleasantly surprised, in Ubuntu 14.04 we can scroll the content of unfocused Calc window without first clicking it focus, just hover the cursor over it and scross the mouse scroller. However the content of the scrolled window IS NOT PROPERLY REFRESHED. Content scroll, but two or tree lines of all content are still showing, hence we have repeating contents in the unfocused windows. It takes clicking the unfocused window to focus, scroll the window slide scroller, than the content will refresh properly again.

Additional bug:

When open side by side two LibreOffice Calc windows, each of different file, it happened to me, this is the second time. One of the window just disappear nowhere to find. Two dots are still showing on the launcher, but one window is nowhere to find. On first occurence it was far worse, suddenly both windows is nowhere to find. Close and reopen shows no windows, but dots on the launcer. In first occurence I went to the Ubuntu Software Center, download Libre Office Suite. Then I can 'see' the windows again.

I can not reproduce, when or how it happens. Anyway, this is the second time.

Screen shot will follow.

Thank you for confirming.

There are two erratic conditions reported in this bug:

1. Unfocused window is not refreshed properly (garbage repeated content) when scrolled over by a mouse.

2. One window just suddenly minimized to a bare strip or 10 x 50 mm miniscule window.

Apparently the second bug happens with Open Office Libre (Calc, Writer), Firefox, Thunderbird. Hence it is maybe a problem having something to do with Window management rather than Open Office.

Reported (for Firefox incident) in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1311983

Please kindly forward this to (a) person(s) with competence, as it is beyond my competence to identify which package is affected and how to reproduce. It does occur a few times daily if you use them though.

Just to add that I too am experiencing the scrolling content issue as described above.

It was reported 1 1/2 year ago. Now I am using Ubuntu 15.04, almost 15.10.

@Tora: As is, comment #13 isnt very helpful. Are you implying the issues are gone on 15.04?

I have NOT been encountering this issue anymore in 15.04 (not properly
refreshing content in unfocused window while scrolling using mouse wheel).

Since 14.04 through 15.04 there are on and off another bug I reported in
the same time span with captioned bug. Which is, when you click resize or
maximize button:

A) Window is not maximizing inspite maximizing button is pressed.

B) Window losing its header when you push the maximize button, in this
stage you can not find minimize, close or maximize buttons anymore. You can
only get those buttons reappearing again after ctrl+left or +right.

C) Over the years since reporting, I have been noticing this bug
disappearing and reappearing with each Ubuntu Kernel update.
