Bug Description

On Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit:

- create a new empty presentation with Impress
- create a bulleted list with a few items
- demote or promote an item by pressing the relative buttons in the toolbar, or using the the keyboard shortcuts (ALT+SHIFT+LEFT, ALT+SHIFT+RIGHT)

Expected behavior: the item gets promoted or demoted
What happens instead: nothing, the buttons in the toolbar appear disabled

Open the example document slide 2.

1) Click anywhere in the document.
Promote/demote buttons are not working (grayed out)

2) View Slide Master
- highlight all text in main window
- "Format, Bullets and Numbering"
- select Position tab
- highlight level 4
- set indent ".20" with "relative" checked
- click OK
Doesn't work: open same dialog again and you'll see it didn't stick;
indent remains a large number

Thanks !

Sorry for my boldness, but imho, this is the most basic functionality of a presentations application, and it does not work in LibreOffice 3.x nor 4.0.2.2

Is there at least a workaround?

I have ubuntu 12.4 32 bit

I can reproduce this on 4.0.2.2 on Ubuntu raring distro build and on master at 95c586d5c034115fd252c5fb0e4637bf9dc68a4d.

Note this is not related to a document, promote/demote seems to not work in general in Impress.

Marco Lackovic, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Consulting:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Impress/Shortcut_Keys_for_Impress
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/General_Shortcut_Keys_in
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Impress_Guide/Keyboard_Shortcuts

no keyboard shortcuts were found for ALT+SHIFT+LEFT or ALT+SHIFT+RIGHT.

Despite this, it appears if clicks on the desired line and clicks Shift, it will indent the bullet, and Shift+Tab unindents. Does this work for you?

Diced (d-c-doedens) wrote :

I noticed that when I create an 'empty' presentation, it already imposes the "Title slide" layout.
With these layouts, the first slide gets some weird properties, like not being able to move around the bullets in a list.
By move around I mean: using the promote/demote, move up/ move down buttons of the "Text Formatting" Toolbar.

Although, I also noticed, I can move around the bullets to some extent using the outline tab.

In the second slide things work as expected. I added the second slide using the slide panel and right clicking> New Slide.
The second slide automagically begets the "Title, content" layout.

Yet I'm still stumped by not getting an empty presentation, with empty layout!

Hope this helps.

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice
(5.4.1 or 5.3.6 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and
your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave
a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3
. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa
