Bug Description

The package is effectively orphaned in Debian and Ubuntu. Debian package maintainer Jens Peter Secher retired in since July 2011 (see https://nm.debian.org/public/person/jps). In December 2012 the package was removed from Debian unstable because of "looking abandoned and has multiple problems".

Package has low popcon so Debian developers decide not to support it any further. I'm trying to update the package to a new upstream version 1.97 in my bazaar branch, but there is a need to update Debian patches for a new version. I'm not PAM expert, and it's hard for me to decide if some patch was superseded by upstream changes or not. Also I'm afrait to introduce severe security bugs because of lack of knowledge.

Currently, package is in works for me state, but it is updated to upstream version 1.97 and all debian patches on top of 1.92 disabled because of conflicts. Brach uploaded to launchpad, and packages for precise available in my PPA. Unfortunatelly, I don't have enough free time to become package maintainer, sorry.
