Bug Description
Binary package hint: libnss-mysql-bg
I use libnss-mysql-bg (1.5-2build1) for virtual users. Starting about a year ago with pre-lucid the boot process died with "kernel panic". As soon as I remove mysql from nssswitch.conf
passwd: compat mysql
group: compat mysql
shadow: compat mysql
the problem goes away. I have found this on different AMD64 systems. Attached is a crash dump from a Dell PowerEdge R300 running Ubuntu 10.10 with kernel 2.6.35-22-server #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 22:02:33 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
I guess the problem really belongs to startup, since the switch to that system seemed to trigger the bug.
