Ok. It&#39;s a production system that started with Debian stable, then Ubuntu Hoary, then Ubuntu Dapper. Hopefully Ubuntu Hardy soon.<br>No re-installs, could not afford downtime. All the time very problematic upgrading.<br>

pam_ldap.conf hasn&#39;t existed since Feisty. &nbsp;There, it was part of the<br>
libpam-ldap package.<br>

what distro version you&#39;re seeing this on, and whether it was a fresh<br>
install or an upgrade, and if an upgrade, what the original distro<br>
