Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

When installing VLC on Kubuntu 9.10, it depends on libnotify, which in turn recommends notification-daemon. The latter depends on lots of GNOME packages.

Result: you get half a GNOME environment after installing a Qt app in KDE, and this is nonsense.

This issue cannot fixed in vlc. The solution would be, that libnotify demotes the notification-daemon to Suggests. Therefore I reassign the bug report to libnotify.

affects: vlc (Ubuntu) → libnotify (Ubuntu)

now kdebase-runtime notify-osd and others provides notification-daemon which solves this issue, closing the bug on libnotify
