Failure to open session on Sony Walkman NWZ-A828

Bug Description

After connecting my Sony Walkman NWZ-A828 and running mtp-detect, the following is output:

Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.5

I am unable to use via nautilus, rhythmbox or banshee.

Is there a workaround to have the drive mount as mass storage? As it did in previous versions of Ubuntu?
