mms based radio make rhythmbox hang

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox (most of the time) doesnt allow me to play a certain radio station. The url for it is mms://stream1.orf.at/fm4_live . Unfortunately I don't have a reliable way to reproduce the problem so I am going to describe both the working and the non-working case here:

a) when it works: i click on the radio station with the above url. rhythmbox starts to buffer (one can observe this in the status bar) and eventually starts playing the radio
b) when it doesnt work: i click on the radio station. a pause icon appears next to the corresponding radio list-item. the status bar tells me it is connecting, but never starts buffering, no matter how long i wait. After this happened no matter what other radio station I click on it doesn't work either.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to provide more info.

Thanks for your bug report. Can you install rhythmbox-dbgsym (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash) and get a backtrace of when rhythmbox is hanging?

$ gdb rhythmbox
(gdb) set logging on
(gdb) run
... hang ...
<Ctrl-C>
(gdb) thread apply all bt full

And attach gdb.txt to the bug report. Also, can you try to get a rhythmbox debug log?
$ rhythmbox -d 2> log
and attach log to the bug?

Here is the gdb.txt file. Please note that at the time when I hit CTRL-C rhythmbox doesn't freeze. The UI is still responsive, but I cannot play any radio stations anymore. (Not sure about mp3's, don't have any installed).

And here is the log produced with '-d'. FWIW, after trying to play this mms radio station, I can also no longer quit rhythmbox. When I click on the close icon (x) on the window title bar after a few seconds a dialog pops up asking me whether I would like to forcefully quit rhythmbox. It looks like it is stuck somewhere...

Apparently the same problem as bug 79401.
