And the fix is to update to a new libmlx4 version, which is already in 12.10 / Quantal. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done in the context of continuing maintenance to 12.04.

That's not very useful. 12.04 is meant to be a Long Term Service release.

The workaround for precise is to install the latest deb package from the quantal release.

  sudo dpkg -i libmlx4-1_1.0.4-1_amd64.deb
