Bug Description

I have a problem with logging into Ubuntu, i.e. in the login window I cannot enter the password for 10-20 seconds (most often with a cold start) the keyboard does not work (laptop keyboard). After several seconds, the keyboard starts and I can enter the password. I tested on "clean" versions of Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS, 20.10 (also with Kernel 5.10), 21.04. The problem occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0016nw laptop with an Intel Core i7-1135G7 processor (also occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0073cl with Intel Core i7-1165G7).

During normal operation, the keyboard works without any problems - the problem is only when logging into the system.

I am using the latest BIOS version (F.12), but I have also used older versions: F.5 and F.11.

Another user with the HP Pavilion 15-eg0073cl laptop (a very similar laptop model) has the same problem:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1927514/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Thanks. The login screen reports this which might be relevant:

[ 3.612708] LaptopunioU gnome-shell[818]: Could not open device /dev/input/event15: Could not get device info for path /dev/input/event15: Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu

Also your kernel log (from question 696945) says:

[ 0.464057] i8042: PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:PS2K] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
[ 0.464058] i8042: PNP: PS/2 appears to have AUX port disabled, if this is incorrect please boot with i8042.nopnp
[ 0.470347] serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1

So maybe try adding kernel parameter 'i8042.nopnp'.
