Unhandled lockdown error (-2) - iphone ios 12

On Ubuntu 18.10 when I connect my iPhone 8Plus with the computer and click on the Documents in the file manager, I got this error: Unhandled lockdown error (-2).
I attached a screenshot about this error.

Same here, with 18.10 and iPhone on 12.1.3 with, iPhone 6s, SE and 7
When accessing "Documents" I get "Unhandled Lockdown error (-2)
The other folder seems mounted ok,but when I go to the DCIM folder, I get this error:
"Unhandled error message: The name:1.2260 was not provided by any .services files"

On commandprompt,:
# ideviceinfo
ERROR: Could not connect to lockdownd, error code -2

but ideviceinfo -s gives a correct overwieuw of the iPhone config

# idevicepair pair
ERROR: Device 89799a11f620ffff8c97b55551638a3fe33919f9 returned unhandled error code -5

Coudl you restart the gvfs service with that command
$ GVFS_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r

then try to access the Documents folder and share the output for gvfsd on the bug?

I have tested this on my Disco development machine, and here's what I found.

Using an iPhone SE running IOS 12.1.2.

Connected the phone using a real cable (using my third party cable only allowed me to charge).
Without doing anything further I open Nautilus and browsed to the phone, and indeed I did see the error described... "unhandled lock down".

However, on the phone itself I was being asked if I wanted to "Trust this computer". I said "Trust this computer" and was then asked to enter my PIN. Once I had done this I was able to browse the photos as expected.

Could people reporting this problem please check that the iDevice has been told to trust the computer and comment here?

When I plug in my iPhone I automatically get a pop up on my iPhone asking if I wish to trust my computer. I accept it and put in my pass code. In Nautilus I get two new sections "Documents on iPhone" and "iPhone". The section "iPhone" opens up just fine and I am able to look at my pictures. But when I click on "Documents on iPhone" I get the lockdown error.

In my terminal when I type in "idevicepair pair" I get "ERROR: Device *long string of numbers and letters* returned unhandled error code -5"

Same here as described by Devon Stuper (vanish) on 2019-02-04. I used an iPhone SE with iOS 12.1.4 and Ubuntu Cosmic (18.10).

I have the same issue, but I just double checked, it works on my machine with bionic, the problem only arises on my cosmic machine.

iPad version: 12.1.4
works with 18.04.01 LTS
doesn't work on 18.10

If anyone has any ideas for me to try, please let me know, I'm happy to try.

Same problem here, but then on Xubuntu 18.04.3 LTS computer and an old iPhone 4.

Failed to mount "Documents on XYZ iPhone".
Unhandled Lockdown error (-2).

When I type "idevicepair pair" in the terminal, it gives me the following message:

ERROR: Could not validate with device d91d11bb8bf8225ab0dd67380ddec2a8afcbdc58 because a passcode is set. Please enter the passcode on the device and retry.

However, on the iPhone itself I do not receive the "trust this device?" message, and thus am unable to continue. Rebooting the iPhone or computer does not help.

Ok I actually made it work. Not sure if this still belongs here, but might as well inform others how I fixed it. Maybe it will help you as well.

Although I had never connected the iPhone to my PC before, I needed to reset the trust settings to get the dialogue option to "trust this device" on the iPhone.

The procedure is quite simple. Go to Settings > General >> Reset >> Reset Location and Privacy. It is also explained here: https://www.guidingtech.com/fix-iphone-trust-this-computer-not-showing-up-issue/

By the way, I then still could not paste files on the iPhone. This might be an Xubuntu specific issue, but I had to install iFuse first. See here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/799414/how-to-move-files-from-ubuntu-to-iphone
