Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

It appears that with gnome-applets 2.25.2-0ubuntu1 that gweather has now been reduced to one weather station per city and it doesn't even tell you what that one weather station happens to be. This is a serious regression from 2.24.

For example: Houston, Texas metro area is roughly 4000 sq km and in Gnome 2.24 has 6 weather stations listed, in 2.25 there is only one and it doesn't even say which one it is. It could be one that is over 100km away from where I am!

I had a good idea that I mentioned in the upstream bug report but I don't know if they will actually implement it. Since users at times may not know which station is the closest to them, which was why they made this change in the first place, having them enter an address and/or city and having the program determine from that which is the closest to them would be a really awesome improvement. Then the user would always have the most accurate data available.
