rhythmbox and gtkpod don't read purchased files on ipod touch

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
libgpod-common: 0.7.93+
rhythmbox: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7
gtkpod: 0.99.14-2ubuntu4
I recently purchased music from the itunes store on my ipod touch. When I plugged the device into my ubuntu box everything appeared on rhythmbox as it should except for my purchased tracks. If i browse through the device with nautilus, I find my tracks in the "Purchased" folder as numbered .m4a, jpg, and plist triplets.
