Bug Description
I have Chromium and Firefox installed in my system. Chromium is the default one in gnome-www-browser.
$ gconftool --get /desktop/
/usr/bin/
But, trying to open an URL with gnome-open, leads to the execution of firefox instead of chromium. I think this is the reason for most apps. to keep using firefox instead of my default chromium (i.e. apport, empathy, gnome-terminal)

This is an intentional change made in GNOME/glib. They no longer use gconf, but record your personal preferences in ~/.local/ share/applicati ons/mimeapps. list.
gnome-open just asks glib what to launch now.
Use the preferred app selection dialog (gnome- default- applications- properties) to change the default.
