Bug Description

Whenever I click the pathbar, forward or back buttons Nautilus plays the little
drum-sound two or three times. I'd only expect sounds to play once per mouse click.

Cheers!

Can you tell us more about your config ? Wich version of Ubuntu are you using ?
Have you a special sound config ? (esd ? alsa ? oss ?)

can you try :

esdplay /usr/share/sounds/gtk-events/clicked.wav

and tell us if you hear one or multiple sounds ?

I on Breezy using Alsa. Updated this very moment.

I don't have an "esdplay" command...

I forgot : "sudo apt-get install esound-clients"

it contains esd-play ;-)

Oki. Got esdplay. esdplay /usr/share/sounds/gtk-events/clicked.wav plays the
sound a single time.

I just realized that the gtk file chooser also does this "double-click-sound" thing.

Not specific to nautilus. That happens on several dialogs too.

This bug still occurs as of Dapper Drake Flight 3 with all of the latest updates. If this bug cannot be fixed before the Dapper release then perhaps system sounds should be disabled by default for Dapper.

Where do you click to reproduce the issue on dapper?

Jonathon Conte (thesicktwist) wrote :

This can be reproduced with gnome-font-properties by clicking any radio button in the main window or any radio button in the Font Rendering Details window.

Multiple sounds can also be heard when opening the window to edit the current profile in gnome-terminal by clicking "Edit Current Profile..." in the context menu or by clicking "Current Profile..." under the Edit menu.

Nautilus will also reproduce it when clicking on the Back, Forward, or Up buttons to navigate the filesystem. Also, clicking on the navigation buttons directly under the toolbar reproduces it as well.

gnome-default-applications-properties will reproduce the bug when clicking any of the dropdown lists or radio buttons on either the Internet or System tab.

gnome-network-preferences will reproduce the bug when clicking any radio buttons on the Proxy Configuration tab.

It is reproduced in epiphany when clicking on any of the radio buttons that change the cookie settings in the Preferences window.

Those are all that I know about at the moment.

If somebody wants to work on that for dapper he's welcome!

I can certainly confirm this; the Font-dialogue is a particularly good (bad?) example with about 4 clicks being heard per radio button.
