Bug Description

Binary package hint: libflash-mozplugin

It looks like bug @134447, but the crash is not immediate, only after a few steps:
I don't know wether it is a bug in the flash plugin or in the web page, as this URL
is the only where I had this problem. Anyway, I suppose that even a bug
in a web site should not crash firefox?
to reproduce the bug:
   1- go to http://www.pagesjaunes.fr
2- enter anything in the 2 lines "quoi, qui" and "où"
   3- click on "TROUVER"
4- click on HOME, ou BACK
This problem doesn't occur if I remove the file libflash-mozplugin.so

One would think that libflash-mozplugin is a stand-alone plugin, but I found that
the problem is solved by adding the package flashplugin-nonfree, which provides
the libflashplayer.so plugin.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

Anyway, the package libflash-mozplugin no more exists,
and idem for the file libflash-mozplugin.so.
So, it seems that the fix in 8.10 looks like what I did in 8.04 !

I confirm this problem under ubuntu 10.04 with :
    Fichier : libflashplayer.so
    Version : Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

Firefox is well updated in version 3.6.8.

We've got the same problem here on several computers Ubuntu 10.04
adobe-flashplugin 10.1.82.76-1lucid1
The problem is not only flash hanging but the whole system that stops working (need to hard reboot)
When this occurs, gdm takes 100% cpu load.

In Maverick, with flashplugin-installer, I went to http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/ literally typed 'anything' in "quoi, qui" and "où", clicked "trouver" then clicked my browsers back button. Did not crash. This is more of a work around then a fix to the package bugged but...

This bug is a duplicate of this one (which has "expired") :

It seems the problem is in xserver-xorg-video-intel.

It's very probably the same problem, as I do have an intel video card too.

Same problem for me with my laptop equiped with an intel video card.
www.pagesjaunes.fr is almost unusable with Firefox (3.6.12 on Ubuntu 10.04).

Did anyone find a workaround?
I tried to use a GreaseMonkey script to disable flash on this particular site (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/75585), but it did not work

Confirmed on my Vaio laptop with Intel video card (Lucid 32). Not reproducible on my Desktop with Nvidia graphics card (Lucid 64).

A good work around is to no longer visit the over-bloated pagesjaunes.fr since there are a lot of comparable services out there (annu.com, 118712.fr...);

Seems quite likely that this is indeed a duplicate of bug #599017. I will mark it so.

Can anybody explain how a bog #152551 reported on 2007-10-14
can be a duplicate of bug #999017. reported on 2010-06-27 ???

the future modifying the past: usually, one see that only
   in science-fiction novels...
