I also confirm on a fresh install of Hardy, After following the steps described here to play DVD : https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/musicvideophotos/C/video.html#video-dvd
Totem-gstreamer is unable to play DVD. Gxine start playing the DVD, then when the DVD menu must appear I have this error : "error reading nav packet"

Yay! I managed to get past this error. All I had to do is run

/usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh

The error messages shown however had me looking in all the wrong places. Something like "decss not found" would have simplified matters a lot.

Seems the issue is fixed for Ramon.

Changed in libdvdread:
status: New → Invalid

It's been marked as "invalid" but the error messages displayed should still be clearer. If the install-css.sh script has not been run the message should give instructions on doing so.
