Bug Description

Trying to resolve a streaming sound issue:

- first i've loaded freetuxtv (0.6.6) and selected the 'bfmtv' channel: i get the video but no sound
- then i try the same channel via vlc (2.2.1-3) (http://bfmlive2-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/214427/bfmtv/04.m3u8), and get the same issue.
- also tested an online webtv: http://webtv.un.org/watch/new-york-is-the-un/4533028972001 , but get the same issue: video ok, no sound

the journalctl has logged:

freetuxtv.desktop[599]: [b2e25b70] ts demux error: libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS duplicate (received 0, expected 1) for PID 0

Looks like this has been reworked upstream: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/NEWS

and the latest vlc version is newer on Debian:

vlc (2.2.1-4) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control:
    - No longer suggest videolan-doc. It is very outdated.
    - Remove transitional vlc-plugin-pulse package.
    - Remove obsolete Breaks and Replaces.
  * debian/libvlccore8.symbols: Bump version requirements for meta data change

Rebooted with the kernel 4.2.0-13, and get that error into journalctl (instead of the previous errors):

freetuxtv.desktop[1875]: [b23702b0] core decoder error: Could not convert timestamp 651426748
vlc.desktop[1934]: [a2f89478] core decoder error: Could not convert timestamp 651802069

which could concern the latest gstreamer changes:

http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/GStreamer
(scroll down to "Working around bugs in GStreamer" section

note:
- radiotray have sound (was not the case with 4.2.0-15 kernel: wrong device input sound detected)
- freetuxtv or same vlc stream: get video, no sound

i don't know if it solve all the problem you encountered, but i have same issue (bfmtv video ok but no sound, but on another url though). i have solve it with vlc 2.2.1 :

Tools > Preferences > Input/Codecs > Demuxers > MPEG-TS:
 - Disable 'Trust in-stream PCR'
 - Check Seek based on percent not time

With this both options, m3u8 plays successfully with both sound and video
