Bug Description

The Calxeda ECX-2000 system is reported by archdetect to be armhf/generic-lpae. base-installer is unable to find a kernel that matches this combination.

I see two ways of fixing this. One is to tell libdebian-installer to recognize it as a "armhf/generic". This will let the existing base-installer match it, and fall through to the code that recognizes lpae.

Another option is to teach base-installer about generic-lpae, and fallthrough to the same code.

The attachment "Option #1: make archdetect report ECX-2000 as "armhf/generic"" seems to be a patch. If it isn't, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are a member of the ~ubuntu-reviewers, unsubscribe the team.

I prefer the libdebian-installer approach, as base-installer already has another perfectly good way to detect lpae so we don't need a separate subarch for it.

no longer affects: base-installer (Ubuntu)

This bug was fixed in the package libdebian-installer - 0.88ubuntu4

libdebian-installer (0.88ubuntu4) trusty; urgency=medium

  * Report the Calxeda ECX-2000 as generic-lpae, not generic, to match
base-installer which already has a different way to detect LPAE (thanks,
