Bug Description

Hi
It appears libdc1394-22 leaks a private symbol which causes programs like digikam to crash when trying to import pictures from external cameras.
This has been fixed in debian ( See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=655332 ). It'd be awesome if we could get the newer (2.2.0-2) fixed package into Ubuntu. I don't see any ubuntu specific changes which is why I'm requesting the sync

I've also attached a buildlog of the library

It seems rather late to be bringing a major new version in with so many rdepends. Can you cherrypick the upstream patch and fix the current version we have? If not, we'll need some testing that the rdepends still build and work with the new version.

Alright, I'm going to backport the patch for this since libdc1394-22 has too many rdepends. I'll reopen if there is absolute need to sync the package.

I am one of the upstreamers. The API hasn't changed, so, there shouldn't be any problems with the rdepends. I would think that it is a good time to sync the package with Debian...

This might also fix: #835687 #462453 #379088...

Thanks!

@Peter I've already isolated the necessary patch which is required to fix digikam, but I'm not sure if that would fix bug 379088, so I guess it's up to someone from the release team to make the decision, I'm fine either way.
