Login sound plays before hardware is initialized, cutting it off

Bug Description

When I enable auto login on my SSD, the system boots so fast that the login sound is cut off and you only hear the end. It seems that the sound starts playing before the hardware is ready. I have also been experimenting with getting boot times on rotational disks down to under 15 seconds and had the problem there as well. This is with 10.04.

Yes, it still happened when I booted into my lucid install last night and updated it. I have not had this problem with maverick however.

Tested with a clean install of lucid and happens there as well. Over the course of several reboots, some of the faster boots ( closer to 8 seconds according to bootchart ) played no sound at all, and some of the slower ones ( closer to 10 seconds ) played some or most of the sound.

It seems that the sound is played from startup applications which runs /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play, which is part of the libcanberra-gtk0 package, so assigning there.

Now tested with clean installs of both lucid and maverick and both have the problem, though not always on the very first reboot after install.
