Bug Description

bug #322344 has a good title, but seems too restricted to logon sounds.

My problem is that I have perfectly nice sounding audio playing, and then intermittently I get a distorted crunchiness for a second or two, before music resumes.

After being frustated by this for a while, I opened up pavucontrol, and noticed on the playback tab that at the moment the distortion starts, libcanberra is playing a "service-login" sound. (or service-logout) (I believe these are sound events from empathy, but the source should be irrelevant)

This used to work, when karmic was first installed, I would hear the "normal" logon/logoff sounds for friends on empathy. But no longer.

Further, sound events sound just fine if nothing else is playing. ie, I only get problems when more than one source is active at the same time on the playback tab on pavucontrol.

Hrmm, great, it's also happening if I have two totem instances running, so I guess this gets bounced somewhere else now :(
