I would prefer a patch that has all the workarounds (WORKAROUND_8BIT_GRAYLEVEL and
WORKAROUND_R5G6B5 included) and doesn't break 24-Bit-True Color Visual compatibility. I think the workarounds are useful (or could potentially be useful) for more than just pango.
