Bug Description

Binary package hint: libcairo2

Korean Feisty (7.04) and Gutsy (7.10) users have experienced various crashes or unexpected behaviors since the libcairo2 update of December 04th.

It seems to affect users whose system was configured to use (Korean?) Windows .ttc fonts. Most common ones are gulim.ttc and batang.ttc. These are fonts included in Korean version of Windows.

The bug apparently affects all programs using Cairo, crashing it or causing it to malfunction whenever it's trying to display these fonts. Most notable (and common) problem reported so far is that Firefox crashes whenever this font is being displayed. Other programs, such as gnome-panel are also affected, making the system highly unstable and/or unusable.

Will try to obtain backtrace when I get home later today. In the meantime, if someone else with this problem can provide one (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash ), I'd very much appreciate it.
