The differences from -3ubuntu1 & -5 are as follows:

1) -3ubuntu1 still has "default-jre | java1-runtime | java2-runtime" in
Depends field, yet this was dropped in Debian since it was decided that
java libraries need not to depend on a JRE, it is rather the apps that
need to do so.

2) The pulseaudio patch in Debian only discards the exception caused by
pulseaudio "IllegalArgumentException", instead of the general
"Exception".

So, my conclusion is: Yes it can be synced.
