Bug Description
Last week I reported that a failed fsck left my Lucid system in an unbootable state. This has now been fixed with a little fsck menu, which makes me feel a lot better!
However I just went through a failed fsck again (through a different combination of issues starting with bug 555585) and there are still some problems with the menu.
The two lines of text flickered almost illegibly, as two different menus are apparently rendered in the same place at the same time. One said something about there being failures, and the other gave me options to run fsck or ignore the error. When I selected F for an fsck, and kept it pressed for a few seconds, the flicker eventually went away and the menu was replaced with a message saying the fsck failed.
(The filesystem wasn't corrupted as such; it was just that my RTC had been reset as the system failed to handle the battery running out of juice, so fsck thought the timestamp was in the far future. I'm very, very happy with the "manual recovery" option... won't be much help to a regular user, but it saved my day).
