Confirmed here on an AMD64 Gutsy install.

Will take a look at this later, today I just need to _use_ LaTeX. :)

This bug still seems to be around (at least for me). Despite the error latex seems to be installed fine on my system and I can use it, BUT the annoying part that does make it a problem is I'm unable to install any other deb packages that rely on latex209-bin because they crash when they try to "install" it.

Is anyone looking at this (or has anyone even applied the bug fix?)

This was reported as fixed in debian in version -11.
-12 is now available in Hardy/Intrepid/Jaunty. Please feel free to open a new bug is this is not fixed for you.

Thanks.
