Bug Description

[Impact]
For some at this point unknown reason, langpack-o-matic refuses to include fcitx-mozc.mo in the applicable language-pack-*-base packages. As a workaround for now this proposed upload rebuilds mozc with export NO_PKG_MANGLE=1 so the translations are not stripped.

[Test Case]
After install, check for the existence of e.g.

 /usr/share/locale/ja/LC_MESSAGES/fcitx-mozc.mo
 /usr/share/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/fcitx-mozc.mo

[Regression Potential]
Low.

[Original description]
$ LANG=C dpkg -S fcitx-mozc.mo
dpkg-query: no path found matching pattern *fcitx-mozc.mo*

Please include it for upcoming next translation update.

The mozc source package was built - and stripped - on March 31, and the latest full langpack export happened on April 15.

@Martin: Is there a 'natural' explanation, or is there some kind of issue which needs to be investigated?

affects: language-pack-gnome-ja-base (Ubuntu) → language-pack-ja-base (Ubuntu)

The mozc template was waiting in the review queue, I accepted it and the strings are translatable now, https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/+source/mozc

Thanks, Sebastien, that explains it. (I should have thought of looking there...)

The fcitx-mozc.po files were included in the raw exported data:

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/268214743/ubuntu-xenial-translations.tar.gz

However, it seems not to have helped:

$ dpkg-query -W language-pack-ja-base
language-pack-ja-base 1:16.04+20160627
$ dpkg -L language-pack-ja-base | grep fcitx-mozc

There is no mentioning of fcitx-mozc at all in the langpack build log, neither for installing it nor it being an unknown translation domain. For some reason it gets ignored, not sure why yet.

I don't think we should apply the workaround to yakkety, let's rather fix it properly there.

Hello Ikuya, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mozc into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mozc/2.17.2116.102+gitfd0f5b34+dfsg-1ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
